Communicating good news that needs to remain secure, for many reasons, is a difficult challenge. A challenge we are still working through. God is doing some awesome things that we'd love to tell you all about, but unfortunately we cannot share details. We are now working in sensitive locations where it would not be prudent for us to link the commercial and the spiritual aspects of our work. There are very few companies doing what we are doing, particularly with foreign workers involved, so it would be very easy to link the business to the ministry if we were to publicise the nature of the business we are starting. We can tell you though, that the Lord has opened up opportunities for our organisation to initiate a new and exciting business venture that has the potential to grow and provide finance so many, many people will be reached with the Gospel. Along with our existing business, this new business facilitates relationship with farmers and traders who live subsistence lifestyles with no real hope of working themselves free of what is often generations of incurred debt. Introducing the means for economic freedom, and the Gospel which brings spiritual freedom, we will see the lives of many transformed.
The basis of what we are working on is a new technology that has been developed by a Thai believer, with financial backing from the USA. Combined with the skills of those God is bringing into our team, we can exploit this to make greater progress in the expansion of His Kingdom.
Right now, for me, this means designing new company graphics – logo, letterhead, business cards and website … plus managing a huge mural on the factory, (that Win is painting,) depicting our work in Thailand and honouring the King of Thailand, who is celebrating his 60 th year on the throne! I've also been coordinating the production of training manuals for our existing business. These have been illustrated by Win, my Karen co-worker, and written by John, our organic horticulture expert. The first batch sent to the farmers came back with the positive encouragement that even the farmers who could only read a little Thai could understand the material as the illustrations are so clear. All this growth is not without some pain. We are regularly reminded we have an enemy who does not wish the Gospel to make more progress. It's great to know as we send out prayer requests that you are covering for us there. We know you have as we have seen things happen in this process that can only have happened with the Lord's intervention.
Investment of technology, skills, finances and a great deal of time is not without its risks. The financial commitments being made to get this off the ground are substantial. We hope to be drawing some income once a profit is being shown by the business, but this will certainly be some time off. Until then, we will continue to live here through the generous donations of our supporters and a little ‘tent making', is written about in another article. |
